I did my mini-genre presentation with Lily on the web show Red vs. Blue. This web show was created within a video game, which differentiates it from other action/comedy shows. It has been going on for 15 seasons with season 16 just starting on April 25. You do not have to be familiar with Halo, the game that the show is created in, to enjoy the show, however you will probably enjoy it more if you understand the limitations of the game and how creators of the show get around them. Since most of the show is made within a video game, the creators can only do things that the game allows them to do. They can get around some limitations by using some custom animations and photoshop, but generally they stick to what they can actually do in the game. There is a forge mode in the newer Halo games which allows them to make custom maps and spawn in all the items they need for a scene. They edit the show using the in-game theater mode and addition editing software. The humor is directed more toward gamers, but they try not to use too much pop culture jokes because they do not want the show to be dated.
